Karachi: Lahore Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar has said that they will try to manage Pakistan’s leading pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi’s workload during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six.
While talking to media in a pre-tournament presser, Sohail revealed that the star pacer won’t be overburdened and will be provided rest when needed.
“He is an asset for Pakistan and we will try to manage his workload properly by giving him rest whenever it is needed and possible by the team,” he said.
Sohail emphasized that in the last season, their spin attack was weak and after Rashid Khan’s arrival in the side, the attack is now strengthened.
“Rashid Khan is the top bowler of the world. With his arrival our spin attack has also got some much-needed experience and it has made our bowling attack a top class one,” Akhtar said.
Meanwhile, Sohail is confident of doing well this season too as they were the runners-up in PSL 2020. “We played good cricket last year. We came so near to the title but couldn’t finish well. This year, we will try to overcome our all shortcomings and give our best. the Qalandars are positive and focused about the upcoming tournament.”

Karachi: Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who represents Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), is fully confident of regaining his form in the upcoming season.
The 26-year-old Babar has been out of his groove after recovering from thumb injury which he sustained on the tour of New Zealand.
“We wait for the PSL every year and the tournament provides local to perform,” Babar said in a podcast released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“I am looking forward to recycle my bad form by identifying mistakes and not repeat them during the PSL,” he added.
Babar stressed that if local players will perform, it will help them to keep an eye for the future selection.
“PSL is a good opportunity for youngsters to prove themselves. When I started playing PSL, it helped me to interact with foreign players on how they think about the game and go through the bad phase,” he maintained.
“If they will do the same, it will help them to progress in their career,” he added.
Meanwhile, Babar revealed his appreciation for the PSL 6 anthem and said that it sounds good at a high volume.
Note, Babar was a player of the tournament in Karachi Kings’ winning run last year. He finished as the leading run-getter of the competition. In 11 innings, he accumulated 473 runs at an average of 59.12.

Karachi: The Online ticket sales of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six is expected to start from today, ARY Sports reported
According to sources, the tickets will go live in the evening on the e-ticketing platform Bookme.pk where earlier fans registered themselves by providing basic information (name, email address and contact number).
Meanwhile, tickets are priced from 500 to 5,000 PKR while tickets for the opening day might be expensive.
Fans can buy only one ticket per CNIC whereas children below 18 are required to register with their B-form number.

As many as 14 Enclosures here at the National Stadium will be opened to cater to the maximum capacity of 7500 ticketed people in each match. Out of these 14, two will be just for families.
Seat numbers will be allocated to each ticket holder and a gap of three seats will be mandatory between families/people. Food stalls will be installed outside the enclosures.
Note, NCOC allowed PCB to cater 20% of the crowd at the two venues of Karachi’s NSK and Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Around 7,500 ticketed spectators will be allowed access inside the National Stadium per match day, while around 5,500 will be able to attend each match day at the Gaddafi Stadium.
PSL 6 will start with a pre-recorded opening ceremony, followed by defending champions Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators taking on each other in the opening fixture.

Karachi: Internationally acclaimed singer Atif Aslam will perform for the very first time in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) opening ceremony as the line-up of the glittering event has been confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Besides Atif, renowned rap artist Imran Khan will also be marking his debut in PSL 6 opening ceremony.
Renowned actress Humaima Malick will also star in the event. Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig & Young Stunners will perform the PSL 6 anthem ‘Groove Mera’.

According to press release issued by the PCB, ‘the opening ceremony will have some parts filmed offshore in a specially designed studio space in Turkey’.
As has been the tradition in earlier editions, the opening ceremony will be followed by the first-match of the season in which defending champions Karachi Kings will play Quetta Gladiators in the night match.

Remember, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and bio-secure bubble created for players and officials, there will be no opening ceremony at the National Stadium, Karachi.
The opening ceremony start time will be revealed in the coming week.

The most followed franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings will be defending the title in upcoming sixth edition, starting from February 20.
Imad Wasim led Karachi Kings only held the reign for four months as they claimed PSL 5 title in November 2020, beating Lahore Qalandars in the final by five wickets.
Kings are coming in the tournament under new head coach Herschelle Gibbs and assistant coach Dougie Brown.
Kings have the best of the opportunity to defend their title as they are scheduled to play seven of the group matches at home ground, National Stadium.
Kings will be up against 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators on February 20 in the opening fixture while the final group match will be against Lahore Qalandars on March 14 at Gaddafi Stadium.

Karachi: The online registration of tickets for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six has started, ARY Sports reported.
The cricket avid fans have started registration on the e-ticketing platform Bookme.pk to watch the thrilling encounters at National Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium.
Fans will first have to first subscribe on the platform by entering name, email address and contact number.
The venues will have 20% of the total seating capacity of the stadiums available for the spectators.
As announced by the PCB last week, around 7,500 ticketed spectators will be allowed access inside the National Stadium per match day, while around 5,500 will be able to attend each match day at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Meanwhile, PCB has also prepared Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the upcoming cricket extravaganza.
According to sources, PCB has also forwarded the SOPs to the Ministry of Health and National Command Operation Centre (NCOC).
The announcement will be made after the approval of the health Ministry and NCOC. Once approved, online booking of tickets, ticket prices and other matters will be announced too.
It must be noted that PSL 6 will start with defending champions Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators taking on each other in the opening fixture.

Karachi: Tickets for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) upcoming season six matches will go on sale from the coming week, ARY Sports reported.
In the first phase, tickets for the opening ceremony and Karachi matches will go on sale while in the next phase, tickets for scheduled league matches in Lahore will go on sale later.
The schedule for the sale of tickets for the play-off matches and final in Lahore will be released later.

Meanwhile, a proposal to increase ticket prices for PSL matches is also under consideration, however, the final decision on ticket prices will be made in the next two to three days.
Tickets will be sold through a local courier company while a proposal to sell tickets online only is under consideration.
Note, the cricket extravaganza is about to start from February 20 with defending champions Karachi Kings taking on Quetta Gladiators in the opening fixture.
The official song for PSL 6 was also released yesterday. The anthem named ‘Groove Mera’ features Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig, and Young Stunners. According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the anthem reflects the realities of the Covid-19 pandemic.
